The 4-5-6 accumulator piston plays a vital role in the application of the 4-5-6 clutch. When wear occurs in the piston bore, it creates a loss of 4-5-6 clutch apply pressure. The loss of apply pressure leads to clutch slippage which can cause harsh or delayed shifts, shift flares, ratio codes and clutch failure.
The reengineered piston has two strategically placed O-rings to prevent further piston-to-bore contact/wear, in addition to renewing the 4-5-6 accumulator circuit integrity and salvaging a worn valve body.
