Early valve bodies contained 5 pressure switches that were never used nor monitored by the computer. In later valve bodies, the holes and the switches were removed with the exception of the direct clutch, which retained the hole in the body with a plastic dummy plug installed.
It is common during the extreme pressure that breaks the low reverse lugs out of the case to also damage the switches or a dummy plug, particularly the direct clutch dummy plug.

Ford vehicles equipped with the 5R110W automatic transmission often have damaged pressure switch diaphragms as well as a broken dummy plug resulting in slip complaints and solenoid performance codes.

With the excessive high line pressure problems that plagues these units the switches as well as the plastic dummy plug often fail and create hydraulic leaks in the circuit.
